Step 2 of PhilSys Registration for National ID is now at SM City Mindpro

Back in August 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the National ID System (RA No. 11055) into law, putting the wheels in motion for the establishment of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as the central identification platform for all citizens and resident aliens. Through this singular ID scheme, the government aims to make public and private transactions more seamless and efficient, as well as to improve the delivery of government services and benefits to Filipinos.

In this photo are PSA IX Regional Director Ms. Mewchun WS. Pamaran (L) and SM City Mindpro's Assistant Mall Manager Ms. Aileen Ann V. Enriquez for the signing MOU between SM and PSA for the Step 2 PhilSys Registration Center.

To speed up the rollout process, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has recently partnered with SM Supermalls to make the PhilSys registration process easier for everyone by establishing satellite sites at select SM Supermalls nationwide. Last July 12, PSA IX opened its registration center at SM City Mindpro catering Zamboangueños who completed the Phase 1 of the registration.

“PSA IX envisions every Filipino to have a national ID as this is part of an Innovative Philippines. We are grateful for this partnership with SM in realizing the dream of a national identification for all Filipinos”, said Ms. Mewchun WS. Pamaran, Regional Director of PSA IX, during the opening of registration center at SM City Mindpro.

Honorable Vice Mayor Atty. Rommel Agan preparing for the biometrics scan which was assisted by PSA IX representative.

The Step 2 of PhilSys Registration includes the validation of supporting documents and capturing of biometrics such as fingerprints, iris, and facial scan.

“That despite the pandemic, we want to move forward and somehow bring some semblance of normalcy. It was just recently when SM Supermalls partnered with PSA to bring the Phase 2 of PhilSys Registration closer to Filipinos, and now we’re bringing it closer to the Zamboangueños”, said Assistant Mall Manager of SM City Mindpro, Ms. Aileen Ann Enriquez.

Capturing of biometrics includes fingerprints, iris and facial scan.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening of the registration center was attended by Honorable Vice Mayor Atty. Rommel Agan, Regional Director of PSA IX Ms. Mewchun WS. Pamaran, Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division Chief Ms. Belinda Garcia, PSA IX Chief Statistical Specialist Mr. Conrad Sontillano, SM City Mindpro Mall Manager Engr. Lucino J. Agraviador, and Assistant Mall Manager Ms. Aileen Ann V. Enriquez.

Residents of Zamboanga are encouraged to register online through register.philsys.gov.ph to get their appointment date for the Phase 2 of the registration.
