A milestone moment unfolds in Northern Luzon as SM Supermalls proudly
opens its 88th branch — and the very first in Ilocos Norte — SM City Laoag, SM
Prime Holdings’ 88th mall. More than a mall opening, this event is a heartfelt
celebration of Ilocano pride, creativity, and community.

As part of the grand launch, SM Supermalls, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), presents “Treasures of Ilocos Norte,” a week-long trade fair showcasing the best of the province’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The exhibit runs from May 29 to June 4 at SM City Laoag — a new home for innovation, culture, and connection.
A celebration of heritage, flavor, and future-forward enterprise
At the heart of SM City Laoag’s grand opening is “Treasures of Ilocos
Norte” — a dynamic DTI-led showcase that elevates the region’s most inspiring
micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Aptly called Rimat Ti Amianan, or
“Gems of the North,” this fair brings together a showcase of Ilocano excellence
— from the bold flavors of bagnet, chicharon, longganisa, and native pastries
to the intricate craftsmanship of handwoven textiles, artisan bags, and
hand-painted accessories that carry stories stitched in tradition and
resilience.

More than a market, it’s a movement — featuring One Town, One Product (OTOP)-branded innovations from every town, championing Halal (food permitted under Islamic law)-ready entrepreneurs, and spotlighting the province’s budding coffee industry now reaching national acclaim. Here, heritage meets hustle. Each product is not just made locally — it’s made with pride, purpose, and the promise of a stronger, more inclusive Ilocos Norte.
Why this launch is more than just a ribbon-cutting
The opening of SM City Laoag and the launch of Treasures of Ilocos
Norte is more than a celebration — it’s a clear demonstration of SM Supermalls’
and DTI’s commitment to nation-building. Together, they are championing
inclusive economic growth, empowering local businesses, and bridging
traditional industries with future-ready platforms.

Join the celebration
The ceremonial launch begins at 10 AM on May 30, 2025 — but the
momentum for local growth starts here and now. Everyone is invited — families,
entrepreneurs, students, and senior citizens alike — to experience the richness
of Ilocos Norte in a space designed to serve, connect, and inspire.

Let’s celebrate Ilocano excellence. Let’s support homegrown talent. Let’s meet at SM City Laoag — because here, “Everything’s Here,” and everything is proudly Ilocano.
