SM Supermalls partners with RunRio to launch First Pride Run

When was the last time you joined a run where the winners would strut down a catwalk during the evening’s awarding ceremony? A run where rainbow confetti and drummers would herald the start of the early morning run? Or a run where there’s also a Best in Costume prize? That kind of fun during an official run is all happening this Pride Month on June 22!

SM Supermalls is working with RunRio to mount the first ever Pride Run 2024 during the early morning of June 22 at SM by the Bay, SM MOA Complex. This is a testament to SM Supermalls’ commitment to inclusivity and championing its malls as safe spaces - for women, children, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Pride Run 2024 press conference held at SM Megamall brought together partners who value diversity and inclusion. From L-R: Pantay Chairperson Thysz Estrada, LoveYourselfPH Executive Director Ronivin Pagtakhan, RunRio President and CEO Rio de la Cruz, SM Supermalls SVP for Marketing Joaquin San Agustin, BingoPlus Foundation Executive Director Angela Camins Wieneke, and Metro Manila Pride Organization Community Engagement and Management Co-Lead Ashley Jaye Milag.

To promote equality and acceptance, the big SM Supermalls idea was to mount fun, health-oriented activities and events. The Pride Run invites members of LGBTQIA+ community, their families and allies, their friends, and casual to serious runners to participate in the 3k, 5k, and 10k runs.

With RunRio organizing the run, you know it will be professionally organized. Each runner will receive a Pride Run singlet, a race bib, and a timing chip. There are finisher’s medals specially designed for this maiden event. And if you’re physically unable to join the run, but want to support the cause, there’s a virtual run that you can participate in.

Pride Run finishers can expect to receive these medals at the finish line

Pride Run participants are entitled to a specially-designed singlet

During the evening’s awarding ceremonies, queer artists and drag queens will provide top notch music and entertainment, and it’s a guarantee that this awarding event will break out into a wonderful party.

Pride Run 2024 is also being supported by DigiPlus Interactive Corp., through ArenaPlus and BingoPlus Foundation, in their efforts to provide accessible healthcare to various communities. Additional event partners include LoveYourselfPH, Pantay Inc., and Metro Manila Pride Organization.

It’s all about inclusivity and the idea of safe spaces where one can express oneself without fear. This has always been something that SM Supermalls espouses and champions, and if this can be reinforced in a fun way, so much the better. Variety of Australian Table Grapes Make a Sweet Arrival in the Philippines

Cebu City, Philippines - The official start of the Australian table grape export season in the Philippines is celebrated by the Australian Table Grape Association (ATGA), along with a fun advertising campaign available at select merchants nationwide. This program, which is supported by Hort Innovation through grower levies, showcases the unmatched quality and flavor that Australian grapes are renowned for by bringing the best Australian table grapes to Filipino customers.

The goal of the advertising campaign, which is being carried out by the ATGA in collaboration with Hort Innovation, is to increase the market share of Australian table grapes in the Philippines. Customers will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of Australian grape types through this campaign, including well-known favorites and fresh, cutting-edge cultivars that have a distinctive flavor profile.

Jeff Scott, CEO of the Australian Table Grape Association, shared his excitement about the new season and promotional efforts in the Philippines.

"We are incredibly excited to launch the Australian table grape season here in the Philippines,” Mr Scott said.

"Our growers have worked tirelessly to produce the highest quality grapes, and we are proud to share them with the Philippines consumers. This promotional program is a significant investment in connecting with our Filipino consumers and retailers, ensuring that the excellence of Australian table grapes is recognized and enjoyed across the market."

In-store tastings, educational materials about the kinds and advantages of Australian table grapes, and exclusive promotions to mark the launch are all part of the promotional campaign. This program will include a few retail partners nationwide, namely Dizon Farms, Landers, Metro Supermarket, Robinsons Supermarket, S&R, Shopwise, and The Marketplace, making it simpler for customers to obtain and enjoy these wonderful fruits.

Social good collab equips Filipino youth with essential educational materials

Recent international student assessments have highlighted areas where Filipino students can strengthen their skills and knowledge in reading comprehension, mathematics, and science.

SM Foundation’s recent collaboration for social good is one of the many initiatives that aim to continue the foundation’s mission to empower the next generation of Filipinos through education.

The results from these assessments provide insights for social good initiatives to develop targeted support programs to empower students to gain subject knowledge and cultivate critical thinking skills essential for tackling real-world challenges.

Recognizing the importance of providing access to quality educational resources, SM Foundation and Phoenix Publishing House recently joined forces with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) to turn over more than 21,000 books to Batasan Hills National High School, one of the most populated public high schools in the country.

SM Foundation and Phoenix Publishing House, in partnership with Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), turned over more than 21,000 books to Batasan Hills National High School (BNHS).

This aligns with the recent successful collaboration between SM Foundation and Phoenix Publishing House under the Pages for Progress initiative. This donation to one of the largest public high schools in the Philippines will directly benefit thousands of junior and senior high school students by providing them with core curriculum materials in English, Math, science, and other subjects.

The initiative aims to foster a conducive learning environment and support their academic growth and competencies by equipping the students with essential learning materials.

Volunteers from PICPA prepare the books to be given to students of BNHS, one of the most populated public high schools in the country.
