SM Foundation and SM City Mindpro Champion Lifesaving Mission Through Blood Donation Drive

In observance of Blood Donor’s Month, SM Foundation and SM City Mindpro, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga City Chapter, Western Mindanao Command, Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Wing Western Mindanao, and the 530th Air Brigade Group, launched a two-day blood donation campaign on July 21-22, 2025 at the Cinema Lobby, Level 4 of the mall.

 

This initiative reflects SM’s unwavering commitment to nation-building through its Health and Wellness advocacy, aiming to help ensure an adequate and accessible blood supply in the city. By working closely with key military units and local health organizations, the campaign is geared towards saving lives while fostering a spirit of volunteerism and civic responsibility among Zamboangueños.

 

The bloodletting activity brings together SM workforce, affiliate and tenant employees, and uniformed personnel in a unified cause — to give the gift of life through voluntary blood donation. It also serves as a timely celebration of the National Blood Donor’s Month, honoring the silent heroes whose donations are critical to emergency care, surgeries, and treatment of diseases.

 

“We are grateful for the strong collaboration with our partners in health and public service. Through this drive, we are not only collecting blood — we are also cultivating compassion and community resilience,” said Aileen Ann Villa-Enriquez, SM City Mindpro Mall Manager.

SM City Mindpro recognized for its efforts on blood collection in Zamboanga City

Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga City Chapter adjudged SM City Mindpro as this year’s Business Establishment having collected the most number of blood units from its mobile blood donations organized during the period of July 2022 to June 2023.

The award was given during the 2023 Blood Donors’ Recognition Ceremony held at the Philippine Red Cross Training Center on July 28, which was attended by Zamboanga City Chapter Board of Directors, Usec. Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar as guest speaker, donors, and guests from various agencies and private institutions.

 

SM commits to continue its efforts in providing venues to the public where they can help extend thousands of lives through blood donation. 

SM Foundation Sets Blood Donation Activity in SM City Mindpro

SM Foundation Inc., together with SM Supermalls, will launch a blood donation activity in SM City Mindpro this September.

This social good effort of SM Foundation, SM Supermalls, and Philippine Red Cross will provide venues for SM employees, tenant and agency partners, and mallgoers where they can help extend thousands of lives by donating blood.

In SM City Mindpro, the schedule is set on September 29 and 30 at the Level 3 Vaccination Area near Ace Hardware and Surplus Shop at 10AM – 4PM.

In 2021, a total of 2,812 bags of blood were collected by SMFI which were utilized to save more than 8,436 lives. One blood bag donation can help save three lives as a whole blood donation can be separated into three components: red blood cells, plasma, and platelets.

Moreover, this activity is in support of the Republic Act No. 7719, the National Blood Services Act of 1994 which encourages and promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood.
